NetcarePlus thrives in expanding healthcare access through a partnership with Hollard

10 July 2024 NetcarePlus

Since forging a strategic partnership with one of South Africa’s leading insurance providers, Hollard, in 2021, NetcarePlus has witnessed remarkable advancements in its ability to provide accessible and expert healthcare to uninsured and underinsured South Africans.

This collaboration has not only safeguarded the long-term sustainability of NetcarePlus's insurance products but has also facilitated unencumbered access to private healthcare for many individuals across the country.

The benefits of this partnership are manifold, with Hollard's strong financial standing and extensive industry experience playing a pivotal role in providing credibility and assurance to NetcarePlus clients. This reinforces their confidence in the insurance products offered.

A poignant testament to the benefits of this partnership is the experience of Mr. M Shumba, a NetcarePlus accident cover client, whose 2-year-old daughter endured severe burns from boiling water. Throughout their challenging journey, from the child's 90-day hospitalisation at Netcare Garden City to enduring multiple procedures including delicate debridement and skin grafts, Mr. Shumba attests to the unwavering care and guidance provided by NetcarePlus. He expressed heartfelt appreciation for being kept informed every step of the way and emphasised the profound impact of NetcarePlus's continued assistance, extending even beyond discharge. The full payment of the Family Care benefit provided by NetcarePlus emerged as a lifeline, easing their cashflow burdens during a time of immense emotional and financial strain.

Commenting on the partnership, Edgar Evans, Head-Partnerships of Hollard Life Solutions, highlighted the synergies between Hollard and NetcarePlus in advancing financial inclusion and healthcare access for South Africans.

“We are pleased to be part of NetcarePlus’s innovative solutions to address the medical funding challenges many South Africans face. NetcarePlus products provide reassurance that access to private healthcare is secured in advance, offering practical mechanisms to mitigate life's unexpected eventualities," said Evans.
Teshlin Akaloo, Managing Director of NetcarePlus, emphasised the importance of inclusive healthcare amidst growing financial pressures faced by many.

“Quality healthcare should be inclusive, yet financial constraints often hinder access for many employed individuals. Our partnership with Hollard has paved the way for a new, affordable approach to providing life-saving care for those in need," Akaloo concluded.

This partnership exemplifies NetcarePlus and Hollard's shared commitment to ensuring access to quality healthcare for all South Africans and marks a significant step forward in addressing healthcare inequalities across the country.

Note: The NetcarePlus insurance products are underwritten by The Hollard Insurance Company Limited (Hollard), a licensed non-life insurer and an authorised Financial Services Provider. NetcarePlus is an authorised Financial Services Provider. This cover is not a medical scheme, and the cover is not the same as that of a medical scheme. This insurance product is not a substitute for medical scheme membership.
