The product serves as the ideal solution to individuals who want to ensure that they are always financially prepared for unplanned medical expenses and emergencies, as well as forward-thinking employers who realise the importance of providing entry-level health benefits to staff without medical aid cover. GenMedSaver/Zurreal Healthcard is a pre-funded Visa Electron Debit Card that is only valid at medical service providers with point-of-sale terminal facilities, ensuring that funds are only available for healthcare-related expenses. Funds can be spent on anything from self-payment gaps, co-payments and deductibles to vitamins, prescription medication and healthcare emergencies. Important to note, says Samsodien, is that the GenMedSaver/Zurreal Healthcard is not linked to a particular medical scheme and can be used by all patients at all medical service providers.
Funding the card is easy and simple via debit order, over-the-counter cash and cheque deposits or an Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT). Secondary cards can also be issued to ensure the whole family is covered with the option of allocating separate funds per secondary cardholder.
