Recently the Mutual & Federal Port Elizabeth branch supported the local Humewood Police department in a crime prevention initiative that was aimed at the general public.

Over 50 Mutual & Federal employees descended on the Five Ways intersection. Their mission was to distribute flyers designed to educate the public about what they can do to make Port Elizabeth a better place.

“This initiative was started in the spirit of preventing crime in the communities in which we live and work”, says Louise Westerman, Claims Manager at

Mutual & Federal Port Elizabeth. “As a short-term insurer, we believe that it is our responsibility to remind the public of what they can do to protect themselves in their homes and in public places”, she continues.

Later that day, some staff members joined police to patrol well-known crime hotspots, including the beach front, Govan Mbeki Street in the city centre, St George’s Park and several shopping centres.

Mutual & Federal is committed to eradicating crime and would like to encourage its policyholders and the members of the public to be vigilant at all times.

Mutual & Federal is a member of the Old Mutual Group and one of the leading short-term insurers in southern Africa.
