TransUnion presents its Mobile Solutions at the Digital and Mobile at-Retail Workshop

27 February 2009 TransUnion

The recent Marketing Mix Marketing at-Retail Spend study showed that digital signage, online and mobile are the fastest growing categories of interest for 2009. Many professional marketers are involved in feasibility studies and are keen to appreciate:

  • Successful applications
  • Integrated digital media solutions
  • The different business models offered by service providers
  • And who is really good at what they do

In response to this survey, the Digital and Mobile at-Retail Workshop was held on the 24 February 2009. TransUnion showcased its Mobile Solutions which included the innovative MobileCredit and Mobile Marketing solutions.

TransUnion’s MobileCredit solution reinvents the way that consumers and organisations conduct business with each other, using technology. The MobileCredit solution enables a consumer to apply for credit by simply sending a SMS to a short code indicating their ID Number, Name, Surname, Income and Expenses. Within a few seconds, the consumer receives a reply from the SMS server. An approved (referred or declined) SMS for credit with a reference and contact number is sent to the applicant. Approved customers can collect their store card at the nearest store, after providing identification documentation and signing the credit agreement. From a consumer perspective, the solution has the ability to reach the entire South African population, and enable consumers to apply for credit from wherever they are.

The Mobile Marketing solution facilitates clients that use direct mailer campaigns as a means to acquire new business. TransUnion assist the client in qualifying the leads and developing a response channel. The respondent can then directly send a SMS to the client to confirm their interest in a specific credit offering.

Terry Murphy the conveyer of the conference, and the publisher of Marketing Mix said:“TransUnion ‘s presentation on Mobile Solutions was very highly rated by the delegates. The marriage of analytics and mobile marketing holds great potential.”

Mohammed Razzak (pictured) Executive Director: Analytics, from TransUnion Analytic and Decision Services (ADS) adds:”The Mobile Solutions allow us to offer our clients innovative solutions that enable consumers to access credit in a convenient and consumer friendly way.”
