SAIA Board Elects New Chairman and Deputy Chairman

The South African Insurance Association (SAIA) Board has announced Mr Cedric Masondo, Managing Director at Sasria (SOC) Ltd and Mr Herman Schoeman, Chief Executive Officer at Guardrisk Group (Pty) Ltd as its new Chairman and Deputy Chairman respectively. The SAIA Board congratulates Mr Masondo and Mr Schoeman and expressed appreciation for their willingness to accept the challenge of leading the industry body.

SAIA Chief Executive Officer, Ms Viviene Pearson said: “We welcome Mr Masondo as our new Board Chairman and look forward to working with him and Mr Schoeman to help take SAIA to greater heights as the industry navigate through the current economic headwinds. They are both highly skilled and experienced industry professionals, and we believe the industry will benefit immensely from their guidance and knowledge.”

Mr Masondo, previously the SAIA Board Deputy Chair, is taking the reins from Ms Lizé Lambrechts, Chief Executive Officer at Santam Ltd who has led the industry body as Board Chairman since 2015. The Board thanked Ms Lambrechts for her dedication to the industry and its agenda over the last four years and for availing herself to help find solutions to the challenges faced by the industry in collaboration with SAIA members, National Treasury, the regulators and other relevant stakeholders. The industry truly appreciates her contribution and will continue to benefit from her knowledge and wisdom, since she will remain a member of the SAIA Board.
