Update on Licenses for Financial Services Providers

Financial Services Board (FSB) deputy executive officer for Market Conduct and Consumer Education, Gerry Anderson says steady progress is being maintained in the finalisation of applications received from Financial Services Providers (FSP’s) for authorisation.

To date the FSB has finalised the processing of 16 812 (previously – 16 668) applications. In total,

1 379 of these applications have been declined (previously 1 363).

One application that was previously declined, has been reversed, namely: FSP 25674 – The Modern Portfolio Company (Pty) Ltd – Johannesburg, Gauteng

Anderson adds, "FSP's whose applications had been unsuccessful, withdrawn or suspended are entitled to appeal to the FSB Appeal Board, an independent tribunal, if the applicant is dissatisfied with the decision taken by the Registrar.

“The attention the public is once again drawn to the fact that neither Mr.Paul Rigden nor any of the entities used by Mr. Rigden for the solicitation of investments from clients, have been authorised as financial services providers. Potential investors are requested to exercise extreme caution in any dealings with Mr Rigden.”
