STANLIB continues its African growth path as STANLIB Kenya officially launches
Stanbic Investment Management Services (EA) Ltd (SIMS) has today officially been rebranded to STANLIB. The move into Kenya further entrenches the SA asset manager’s foray into Africa, with a STANLIB presence already established across Namibia, Botswana, L
The move is in line with the company’s vision – under the tenure of STANLIB CEO Thabo Dloti – to become the leading asset manager in South Africa and other emerging markets it serves. The rebrand ensures alignment within the STANLIB Group across the continent.
STANLIB Kenya’s new brand identity follows a partial ownership transfer between Liberty Group and CfC Stanbic Holdings in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania (historically, SIMS was called Stanbic Investments as a result of its relationship with the Bank); and brings it in line with the Liberty and Standard Bank group brand protocols across the continent.
At the official rebranding event in Nairobi today, STANLIB CEO, Thabo Dloti, said “STANLIB Kenya will maintain its reputation for investment excellence and continue to build long-term relationships with clients. As we further entrench our presence in Africa, our goal remains to create innovative, locally relevant investment solutions, and partnering with clients to ensure sustainable growth of their investments.”
The company already offers a suite of services that address various customer needs. The consolidation effort means that STANLIB in East Africa will be able to tap into the vast experience base that the company has built across the continent over the years, thus offering even broader services and tailored investment solutions.
STANLIB Kenya has gathered assets under management in excess of USD 2bn since operations began in the country in 1992. The company manages assets for an array of clients including Parastatals, Corporates and individual clients, and is led by STANLIB Regional Director for East Africa, James Muratha.
STANLIB has a strong heritage with more than 290 years collective investment experience. STANLIB was founded in 2002 when Standard Bank Asset Management and Liberty Life Asset Management joined forces. The re-branding of the Kenyan Wealth Management operations under the STANLIB brand brings it in line with the Liberty and Standard Bank group brand protocols across the continent.
