Johan brings more than 30 years experience in the financial services industry to PPS Wealth Advisory. His extensive background includes a proven track record of leadership, innovation and excellence in investment management and advisory services.

Throughout his extensive career, Johan has performed various functions across the South African financial services industry. He was instrumental in the establishment of Momentum Investment Advisory Services and served as a founding member of Absa Investment Management Services. His leadership as Chief Investment Officer in establishing Absa Multi Management was notable. Under his guidance, the investment team achieved two Raging Bull Awards. These awards are a testament to his strategic vision and commitment to delivering exceptional investment outcomes.

Johan’s expertise is further exemplified by his tenure as the Head of Absa Asset Consulting, where his advisory team provided investment advice to some of the largest retirement funds in South Africa, overseeing assets in excess of R70 billion. In his subsequent role as the Head of Advice at Sasfin Wealth, Johan expanded his influence. He was responsible for both institutional and personal advice activities and served as Portfolio Manager for Sasfin’s multi-managed range of implemented consulting solutions.

In addition to his robust professional background, Johan holds a B.Com (Hons) in Investment Management from Rand Afrikaans University (now the University of Johannesburg), an MBA from Wits Business School and a Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning from Free State University. His commitment to continuous learning and leadership development is demonstrated by his participation in advanced leadership programmes at Harvard Business School, Duke University in the US and INSEAD Business School in France.

Johan recently published his book, Your Ultimate Personal Finance Guide, that seeks to empower individuals and households on their personal finance journey.

Johan’s appointment marks a significant milestone for PPS Wealth Advisory as it continues to enhance its value proposition to members by providing expert, personalised financial advice and innovative wealth management solutions. His extensive experience and strategic insight will be instrumental in driving the company’s growth and maintaining its commitment to delivering superior financial outcomes for its members.

Commenting on his new role, Johan states, “I am honoured to join PPS Wealth Advisory at this exciting time. The company’s dedication to serving the unique needs of its members, coupled with its strong foundation in financial services, offers tremendous opportunities for innovation and growth. I look forward to working with the talented team at PPS to continue building on this legacy and to help our members achieve their financial goals.”

PPS Wealth Advisory is confident that under Johan’s leadership, it will continue to set new benchmarks in the industry, promoting a culture of excellence, integrity and client-centricity.
