This is according to Gerhard Joubert, Head of Group Marketing and Stakeholder Relations at PPS, who says the purpose of the competition is to ensure that young CAs better understand PPS’ unique business model, based on the ethos of mutuality, in terms of which PPS members rather than shareholders share the profits of the company. “Students will have to answer a multiple choice questionnaire based on the history of PPS, in order to enter the competition.”

The competition is open to all Honours students studying towards becoming CAs(SA) and PPS will pay the winning student a cash prize of R10 000, as well as a further prize of R10 000 cash to his/her university, says Joubert.

In addition to the cash prize, RSM Betty & Dickson (www.rsmbettyanddickson.co.za), a member of the sixth largest global accounting network, has agreed to make a Partner or Head of Department available to the winning student for 3 mentoring/career planning sessions

“This exciting opportunity is only open until the 31st of August 2012, students can visit www.pps.co.za for further information,” concludes Joubert.
