The financial advisory business of the Professional Provident Society (PPS) is expanding on its mutuality footprint and, as part of this expansion, has launched an office in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape.

The office at Newton Park will be home to financial advisers focused on empowering graduate professionals to create a better tomorrow by saving, investing and protecting their futures and loved ones.

PPS has a legacy dating back to 1941. Founded by a group of dentists, PPS has a history of demonstrating leadership during economic growth and financial instability. PPS is based on the ethos of mutuality, which extends beyond the normal bounds of financial services to share all its profits with members holding qualifying life-risk products. This is unique to only PPS.

Nick Battersby, Group Chief Operating Officer at PPS, says, “As a company operating on a mutual model, PPS has no external shareholders. Therefore, we operate solely for the benefit of our members. Through time, companies like PPS, where mutuality is at their core, have been created to serve clearly defined purposes, which sets us apart from other organisations, particularly in trying times when it is most needed.” PPS is the largest company in South Africa operating with an ethos of mutuality and the second largest in Africa, focusing exclusively on graduate professionals and providing members with tailor-made insurance, investment and healthcare solutions.

Mzwandile Mtshali, Group Executive Advisory Services, says, “PPS is recognised as a company of value and integrity by lawyers, doctors, accountants, engineers and many other professions because our business is there exclusively for its members and their families through every life stage – from graduation to retirement and beyond.” Mtshali refers to PPS Advisory Services as being the fastest-growing agency in South Africa over the past two years, according to NMG Consulting’s SA Risk Distribution Monitor industry report.

PPS’s financial advisers impart key insight into how structuring a holistic financial plan today determines how members live tomorrow and in the future.
