Old Mutual harnesses Skandia’s investment power for the South African market

19 September 2008 Old Mutual

Old Mutual has brought in Skandia’s investment management operations to enhance the fund range available to South Africans keen to invest offshore.

Local investors will now have access to more international funds managed by some of the world’s top fund managers, while benefiting from Skandia’s multi-manager investment expertise.

Old Mutual International (OMI), the offshore business of Old Mutual, has revamped its range of in-house funds to take full advantage of the Skandia Investment Group’s comprehensive investment research and fund manager selection processes.

Many of OMI’s range of Core funds now benefit from Skandia Investment Group’s powerful investment research capability, a team of over 50 investment analysts and portfolio managers.

OMI’s Core range of funds is available for investors in its Life Account offshore investment product. These Core funds are offered alongside a specialist fund range of third party fund links giving OMI investors a wide range of investment options for their portfolio. This range is being renamed as the Self Select range.

Skandia Investment Group is the investment management arm of the Skandia Group and is responsible for manufacturing investment solutions and services for Skandia’s markets worldwide.

Marcel Bradshaw (pictured), Head of Offshore Distribution, Old Mutual International, said:

“This is an exciting development for our investors and the offshore market in South Africa. We are introducing the fund management capabilities of 29 world class fund groups to support our wider range of international investment options – giving advisers and their clients an ever more dynamic proposition from which they can build portfolios.

“It’s a great development for OMI to have the investment power of Skandia Investment Group support many of our funds – their fund manager research and selection process is extremely robust and comprehensive and our investors can be sure they will access to the top fund managers in the world.”
