Cape Town Fires– Old Mutual offers a helping hand

20 April 2021 Old Mutual

We are saddened by the news of major devastation caused by fires in both Gauteng and the Western Cape this past weekend.

Mutual Park in Pinelands (West Campus) is being used as a feeding hub for those in the UCT community who have been impacted by the fires and surrounding communities. Meals will be packaged and disbursed to the community from our Mutual Park campus for as long as needs be.

Old Mutual Education Trust Bursary students who are based at UCT who have been impacted by the fires will be provided with the necessary trauma counselling and places of shelter through various hotels in the city.

We have also partnered with the Gift of the Givers Foundation, who will be on site to oversee the disbursement of food parcels and other items. We continue to engage with officials from UCT to gauge their immediate needs so that we can respond accordingly.
