Mutual & Federal opens a Multi-purpose Centre in Cape Town

23 November 2010 Mutual & Federal

Thursday, 18 November 2010 marked the official opening of the new Mutual & Federal Multi-purpose Centre in Montague Gardens, Cape Town.

Mutual & Federal, one of South Africa’s leading short term insurers, is on a strategic drive to advance its customer service levels by turning all its centres, which were previously known as drive-in or dual-claims centres, into Multi-purposes facilities for the benefit of its clients and brokers.

The focus of the new Cape Town centre is to offer clients a facility that will ultimately provide for all their insurance requirements.

“This centre replaces the one in the Cape Town CBD that was shut down at the end of October 2010. The capacity of our previous facility eventually proved inadequate as it was limited to handling only motor assessments and a few inspections”, says Heidi Dias, General Manager for Claims Operations at Mutual & Federal.

“The Cape Town Multi-purpose Centre is adjoined to Dals Express who are part of the Dals Motor Group”, says Dias. Dals Express have been a long-standing service provider to Mutual & Federal. If the damage to the vehicle is cosmetic i.e. minor damage, then the assessment and repair can take place at the Multi-purpose Centre. Clients will still have the choice of the Mutual & Federal panel, and those whose vehicles have more substantial damage will receive a list of approved auto-body repairers to choose from.

The Cape Town Multi-purpose Centre is the third to be given a facelift by Mutual & Federal, following the renovation of the Cresta and Benoni establishments in 2008 and early 2010 respectively. All these centres have been turned into modern, state-of-the-art facilities.

Further good news for current and prospective Mutual & Federal clients is that the Cape Town centre has extended its service to include the registration of all motor and non-motor claims. It will, in future, also handle the pre-inspection of vehicles as well as policy changes. Some of the benefits of using this centre include a quick and yet thorough 45-minute vehicle assessment; the choice and referral to Mutual & Federal approved auto-body repairers – for vehicles with damages; as well as a convenient location for customers in the northern suburbs of Cape Town.

Mutual & Federal pioneered the concept of drive-in claims centres in the early 1990s to reflect its commitment to prompt and professional claims settlement. Today, the short-term insurer is becoming the first company to enhance its service levels by introducing Multi-purpose centres.

The new Cape Town facility opened its doors on 1 November 2010. The contact details are:
