Mutual & Federal dual assessment centre streamlines vehicle claims and repairs

A leading South African short term insurer has launched a second dual assessment claims centre to further help policyholders reduce the time, cost and hassle required to submit motor vehicle claims and have their vehicles repaired. The centre caters for cosmetic damage repairs only, but a fully fitted workshop is adjacent to cater for more extensive damage.

The Mutual & Federal dual assessment claims and repair centre, launched in Boksburg on Tuesday, April 13, allows policyholders to register claims, receive quotes and have their cars repaired, all at one convenient location. The first drive-in claims centre, in Cresta, Randburg, proved to be a phenomenal success and has resulted in the launch of a second centre in the East Rand.

Heidi Dias, general manager: Mutual & Federal Claims Operational says, “The centre uses state-of-the-art technology combined with an industry standard quoting system, allowing us to reduce the average cost per claim and the hassle for the client. This dramatic reduction in costs will have a direct influence on maintaining affordable premiums.”

Mutual & Federal has partnered with MF Autobody Repairers to ensure quality repairs to policyholders’ vehicles. Armando Figueiredo, director of MF Autobody Repairers, expressed his excitement about the launch of the dual assessment centre.

“Mutual & Federal is a respected and trusted name in the short-term insurance industry. We believe that this partnership will ensure that all clients receive professional service and quality repairs that meet with the required motor car manufacturers’ standards,” says Figueiredo.

Brokers are encouraged to advise their clients of the convenience of the dual assessment centre. Referring customers to the centre will not only ensure that vehicles are restored to their original condition, but will eliminate vehicles being returned for additional repairs.

Dias continues, “Policyholders wishing to take advantage of this groundbreaking development in claims can either make an appointment with the claims centre or simply drive in. Once the assessor has evaluated the damage to the vehicle, an assessment report is produced. This entire process takes a mere 30 to 45 minutes. Standard vehicle repairs should generally take a few days, unless the damage to the vehicle is extensive and more serious repairs are required.”

Dias concludes, “These centres are the first of their kind in South Africa and Mutual & Federal will be rolling out additional ones in the rest of the country to assist policyholders and reduce the stress involved in lodging a claim and repairing the vehicle.”
