Metropolitan voted as the industry leader in the Long-term Funeral Insurance Industry category at the Ask Afrika Orange Index 2024/2025

28 August 2024 Metropolitan

Metropolitan has once again proven its commitment to exceptional customer service by claiming the top spot in the Long-term Funeral Insurance Industry category at the prestigious Ask Afrika Orange Index 2024/2025.

The Ask Afrika Orange Index® is the most comprehensive customer experience benchmark in the country, reflecting customer satisfaction, emotional fulfilment, and loyalty. With over 46,000 interviews with South African consumers, leading brands are measured against their customers' experiences and expectations.

This victory marks Metropolitan's second consecutive win for customer satisfaction. Having secured the top spot in the Long-term Insurance: Life Industry category last year, the 126-year-old brand's ascent from seventh place in the Long-term Funeral Insurance Industry category in 2023 to first place this year demonstrates its outstanding performance in the insurance sector.

Peter Tshiguvho, CEO at Metropolitan says, “We are honoured to be recognised in this category. The teams’ tireless efforts over the years to improve customer experience has paid off. This prestigious award serves as a validation of our steadfast commitment to our customers and their collectives.”

This timely announcement aligns with Metropolitan's upcoming launch of a new campaign celebrating its years of exceptional service accolades. The campaign will reinforce the brand's enduring promise of "Together We Can" and highlight its legacy of customer commitment by delivering accessible and practical solutions.

Tshiguvho explains, “Our commitment to efficient and quality service to customers is demonstrated through our efforts to utilise digital capabilities for an enhanced customer experience, such as easily submitting claims and accessing policy information via WhatsApp. Moreover, we have a dedicated digital team within our contact centers driving digital claims, thereby reducing call handling times and incorporating chatbot technology to streamline processes.”

Once again, the Ask Afrika Orange Index features top companies across various industries in SA who all have one common thread - the best customer experience, which directly correlates with brand reputation and emotional connection with customers.
