Lion of Africa Insurance Company BEE rating

04 July 2018 Lion of Africa

The Lion of Africa Insurance Company (Lion) is proud to announce that we have achieved a level two Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE) rating for the period 1 June 2018 to 30 June 2019.

This rating was achieved under the amended Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment Act 53 of 2003 which came into effect on 1 May 2015.   These significant changes to the legislation indicate government’s seriousness about promoting and implementing BBBEE, and place greater obligation on firms to ensure compliance.

As a company which is majority black owned and managed, we are committed to meaningfully contributing to the transformation of the financial services industry in South Africa and supporting the objectives of the National Development Plan.

The Lion we will continue to strive to create prosperity for all South Africans by supporting education and skills development, small enterprise development initiatives, women empowerment and gender equity programmes and promoting leadership and partnerships with all our stakeholders.

We wish to thank all our business partners, clients and shareholder, Brimstone Investment Corporation, for their continued support which has contributed to our worthy BBB-EE certification.
