Out with the old, in with the new king for Best of Pretoria

29 October 2024 King Price

The residents of Tshwane have spoken, and King Price Insurance has been crowned the Best Home and Car Insurance Company in the 2024 Best of Pretoria Readers’ Choice Awards.

King Price CEO, Justinus van der Westhuyzen, says the accolade confirms that their client-centric approach is working. “We’re a values-driven business, and everything we do is guided by our ‘customer is king’ family value. We all get out of bed every morning to ensure that our clients are placed exactly where they should be. First. And now, we’ve been awarded first place too. It means the world to us.”

King Price launched with a world first innovation: Comprehensive car insurance premiums that decrease monthly as the cars lose value. Not only does this still set the insurer apart, it also sets a precedent for everything that followed.

Firstly, comprehensive car cover is linked to R1 insurance for valuable portable possessions like bicycles, golf clubs and hearing aids, and bikers with comprehensive cover for their motorbikes can insure their gear for just R1 monthly. (No, that’s not a typo.) And, clients can get up to 20% off when they insure multiple cars.

Further, the insurer’s rating engine, which evaluates each client’s individual risk to determine the best possible premium, was developed in-house to give them the edge when it comes to offering super cheap insurance that’s fair and logical. Clients can also insure almost everything they own, including their businesses, under one roof. And most recently, they launched King Price Life, which is #MakingADifference in the funeral and employee benefits spaces, with big plans to expand their reach and range.

Van der Westhuyzen says that their employees are encouraged not to take themselves too seriously, but to take what they do very seriously indeed. “We aim to help all our clients understand exactly what they’re signing up for. We’ve taken the legalese out, and brought a sense of fun and relatability in. When we ask our clients how we can make them smile, we really mean it.” And, if there’s an opportunity to make South Africans laugh out loud, King Price will take it.

“In a world where insurance just seems same-same, how sure can you be that there’s a brand committed to doing things differently? Thanks to King Price, you can be sure-sure. Or, as our new ad states, you can be sho-sho,” says Van der Westhuyzen. (Click here if you haven’t seen it.)

Van der Westhuyzen speaks for each and every one of King Price’s 1,450+ employees when he says ‘thank you’ for the trust and loyalty Pretoria has shown them. Next up? Similar awards across Mzansi. It’s a commitment from the king.
