Investec Group today announced its growth strategy focused on the Private Client franchise.

Its Private Client growth ambitions will be driven by the advice-led, high touch client proposition through strong private banking and wealth capabilities, combining deep, long-standing relationships with seamless digital access and 24/7 support. The model is locally delivered with a clear segment focus, ensuring relevance and meeting its clients’ needs.

One Investec delivers an integrated global ecosystem that provides seamless banking and wealth solutions across geographies, creating a consistent global client experience while deepening client relationships through integrated banking, lending and wealth partnerships.

Across banking and wealth, the opportunity is to turn established client franchises into larger, more entrenched and higher returns businesses by March 2030. In South Africa, the Private Banking base of 128 000 clients provides a strong platform for growth, with the ambition to add a further 122 000 clients and deliver an additional R3 billion in operating profit.

In the UK, the same strategy is being applied from a more focused base, growing from 8 200 Private Banking clients by adding approximately 5 000 new clients and contributing £25 million in additional operating profit.

Wealth & Investment International adds a further layer of long-term value: with 27 000 annuity clients, the business is positioned to deliver sustained earnings growth of 16 to 17% by FY2030. Together, these priorities point to a clear strategy: grow client scale, deepen relationships and convert franchise strength into enduring client value.

In the South African Private Banking franchise, the Group continues to invest in the parts of the business where it already has a strong market position, ensuring it consistently delivers the best value proposition to its clients. Investec Private Banking is also accelerating its presence in the affluent market through differentiated offerings such as My Investments and Investec Life in partnership with Investec Wealth & Investment International.

In the UK, Investec is transitioning from a specialist lender to a full-service primary bank for its clients. The enhanced offering will include a broader suite of banking services, including current accounts, credit cards, rewards and benefits. The enhanced proposition will be supported by digital capabilities, a global 24/7 client support model and access to the wider One Investec ecosystem. This integrated approach is designed to deepen client relationships and drive long-term growth.

By offering a differentiated, advice-led proposition supported by dedicated bankers and financial advisers, enhanced service capabilities and seamless digital engagement Investec is evolving its operating model by servicing a dedicated affluent segment in an omni-channel approach, alongside its HNW and high-income client bases.

Investec’s Wealth & Investment International offers award-winning wealth management, execution-only global trading, and asset management services to internationally mobile HNW private clients. With its international presence and capabilities, the business continues to grow across chosen jurisdictions, through acquisitions, partnerships and enhanced platform integration across the Group to meet clients’ needs

Almost three years post the combination of Investec Wealth & Investment UK and Rathbones, the strategic partnership is evolving from a referral-based model to an integrated assets-under-advice model. Investec will now lead the client relationship and advice, with Rathbones providing underlying investment capabilities, alongside Investec Wealth & Investment International. This is aligned to the Group's strategy to deliver a unified banking and wealth proposition via a single platform, enabling holistic advice and seamless digital delivery.

Fani Titi, Investec Group Chief Executive, said:
“The Private Client franchise sits at the heart of Investec. Our origins are rooted in client service and enabling our clients to achieve more. As client needs become increasingly complex, our focus remains on delivering integrated, advice-led and digitally-enabled solutions, underpinned by strong human relationships and trust.

At the core of this is our distinctive ‘One Investec’ approach, which brings banking and wealth together into a seamless, client-centred experience, enabling us to meet clients’ needs holistically and create greater value.”

Itumeleng Merafe, Head of Private Banking SA, said:
“Our growth strategy is focused on two key areas. Firstly, we continue to invest in the parts of the business where we already have a strong market position, ensuring we consistently deliver the best value proposition to clients. Secondly, we are accelerating our presence in the affluent market through differentiated offerings such as My Investments and Investec Life. Together, these solutions expand the ways clients can enter the Investec ecosystem, creating a more integrated and seamless experience. This strengthens long-term client value while also diversifying our earnings base and increasing capital-light revenues.”

Joubert Hay, Chief Executive of Investec Wealth & Investment International, said:
“Our well-established Wealth & Investment International business is delivering strong financial performance, supported by consistent client inflows and disciplined active investment management. With a clear line of sight to our FY2030 ambitions, deeper integration with Private Banking and continued digital enablement will further enhance earnings quality and client value. Built on a 20-year track record, our specialist investment capability and experienced team, global custody and technology platform, alongside our values-led approach to holistic wealth management, positions us to deliver sustained outperformance.”

Ryan Tholet, Head of Private Banking UK, said:
“The UK high net worth market presents a compelling growth opportunity. By broadening our proposition, deepening client relationships and leveraging the strength of the wider Investec ecosystem, we are well positioned to deliver a more integrated banking and wealth proposition.

With Investec leading the client relationship and advice, supported by both Rathbones and Investec Wealth & Investment International’s investment capabilities, we can provide holistic advice and a seamless client experience, creating greater value for clients and stronger returns for shareholders.”
