Price Forbes (Pty) Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Price Forbes in London, has promoted Andre Brooks to the leadership role of its newly created Marine division, effective 01 September 2016.
Warren Bolttler, CEO of Price Forbes says, “Brooks will assume the leadership role of the newly formed marine division. Brooks will initially be responsible for creating a “go-to-market” marine insurance offering for both South African and African clients. Ultimately he will be responsible for growing marine specialty as a class of business as well as actively pursuing standalone marine business.
Brooks will be able to leverage off Price Forbes’ well established corporate and commercial client base, as well as integrate and learn from a strong, well established Marine team at the Price Forbes and Partners office in London.
Brooks who, has been with the company for 12 months and is one of the insurance industry’s leading young talents, having recently won the FA News Insurance Apprentice competition held earlier in 2016.
He started his career in Cape Town in 2005 in the Marine Claims environment. Employed by a Lloyds UMA, he quickly became an integral part of the claims team specialising in Marine Hull, Cargo and Liability claims. After coming to grips with the claims environment, Brooks later pursued a passion for the underwriting side of the industry and in doing so relocated to Gauteng to fulfil the role of Marine Underwriter for 3 reputable insurance companies over 7 years. He has completed his regulatory examinations and amongst other insurance related qualifications he also holds a B. Comm (Law) degree from the University of the Western Cape.
Bolttler concludes, “We view the logistics industry in Africa as a great opportunity. Even though many of the key sectors are going through tough times, there seems to be ever increasing activity in the import/export, storage and transit of commodities, food, minerals, raw materials and infrastructure components being used in large mining, power and utilities projects throughout Africa.”
