We are delighted to inform you that we have completed our combination with Chadbourne & Parke, a leading New York-based international law firm. As of today, the newly expanded Norton Rose Fulbright has more than 4,000 lawyers, including more than 1,000 in the US, across 59 offices worldwide.
To join forces with the outstanding lawyers from Chadbourne is an incredible opportunity, which benefits our clients and lawyers alike. Chadbourne built a strong reputation for legal excellence in finance and corporate transactions, most notably in energy, infrastructure and international projects, banking and corporate finance, litigation, including insurance and white collar defense, pharmaceuticals, as well as bankruptcy and financial restructuring. This combination is an exciting step for all of us, as we now provide our clients with greater support for their business activities in the US, the UK and Europe, as well as Latin America.
The rationale to combine Norton Rose Fulbright with Chadbourne & Parke is simple. Chadbourne wanted to provide its clients with an extended international platform and additional resources in the US. Norton Rose Fulbright was seeking to extend its capacity in the all-important financial and regulatory markets of New York and Washington, DC, and to enhance the firm’s capabilities in project finance, corporate, bankruptcy, litigation and white collar disputes, tax, and Latin American finance and infrastructure work. Our common focus in many important industry sectors match perfectly, significantly improving the strength of our collective resources.
Our combined firm has a stronger platform in the US and around the world. Our New York office now has 300 lawyers, while we expand to 130 lawyers in Washington, DC. In Latin America, Chadbourne’s longstanding presence and deep institutional relationships extend our presence to São Paulo and Mexico City. We are welcoming new Chadbourne colleagues in our London and Moscow offices, and we also add a new office in Istanbul.
This combination also gives us even greater industry and practice experience. We are now positioned as a global leader in financial institutions, energy, infrastructure, corporate and project finance, life sciences and disputes. Our lawyers offer experience across the key industry sectors, including financial institutions; energy; infrastructure, mining and commodities; technology and innovation; transport; and life sciences and healthcare.
