First Marine Acceptances joins Lombard Insurance Group

28 February 2012 Lombard Insurance

Lombard Insurance is delighted to announce that First Marine Acceptances (FMA) will be joining their select group of underwriting agencies from the 1st of April 2012.

Peter Gordon, Head of Partnerships at Lombard, believes that this is “another strong step forward in Lombard’s strategy of partnering with top quality and experienced underwriters, who have a proven track record in delivering value to the market”.

FMA, lead by Alan Cook and Paul March, bring years of experience to marine and transit insurance space. Excited by the opportunity to further develop their business through a partnership with Lombard, Alan Cook believes that “this is a natural step forward in the growth of FMA” and “based on the response from our brokers, this is a move the market will strongly support.”

FMA will be merging with Lombard’s current marine partner, Helm Underwriting Management Services (UMS), forming a dynamic partnership between two of South Africa’s most respected marine underwriting agencies.

Hugh Murcell, MD at UMS, believes FMA and UMS together “compliment each other to form a strong team, build a wider footprint and operate through enhanced facilities, positioning the combined entity extremely well for continuity and growth.”
