Following a year of successful consolidation, Firedart is gearing up to take their product and service offerings to an even higher level via additions to their skills set and management team. To borrow from Tony Gwynn, a Hall of Fame Baseball player, who once said: “The minute you’re satisfied with where you are, you aren’t there anymore”, Firedart firmly believes in not resting on past achievements and their growth strategies and future plans talk exactly to this.
In implementing this strategy and growth plan, Firedart is excited to welcome George Parrott to the management team as Executive Director with effect from 1 April 2015. George is no stranger to Firedart, having been a non-Executive Director since 2012. George will assist Mike Tandy and Ian van Loggerenberg in managing and driving this prominent engineering underwriting agency to even greater heights. George has spent 5 years at Lireas Holdings, the strategic investment arm of Hannover Re Africa, who is also a current shareholder of Firedart. Prior to Lireas, George was employed in various roles at Santam for 15 years during which he completed his Master’s in Business Administration degree at the Gordon Institute of Business Science providing him broad and well-rounded business knowledge in addition to his insurance expertise. The experience gained at Lireas, consisting of a mix of insurance, reinsurance, entrepreneurship, private equity, strategy and business management will equip him well and enable him to add value in his new role at Firedart.
In addition to George’s appointment, Firedart has also expanded its staff compliment in Cape Town in November 2014 and Durban in 2015. We are delighted to announce the appointment of Andre Alberts and Angela Randall as Marketing Managers for the Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal regions respectively. Andre’s appointment is effective from November 2014 whereas Angela joins Firedart on 1 May 2015. These two individuals bring a wealth of engineering insurance specific experience to Firedart, its valued brokers and clients. Expansion to these new areas certainly enables Firedart to have a wider national footprint and reach to the all the major business centres in South Africa for the benefit of our brokers and clients.
In welcoming the three individuals, Mike Tandy, Managing Director of Firedart, says: ”Even in these tough economic times that we are all experiencing we are of the opinion that this too will pass and Firedart will continue to position itself to provide superior products and service to its clients”.
