Border Insurance Brokers ties up with National Broker

29 May 2014 | Company News & Results | General | Indwe Risk Services

Border Insurance Brokers one of the Eastern Cape’s most successful Independent brokers has decided, in further the interests of their clients and personnel to merge their operation with Indwe Risk Services, the leading 100% South African owned composite national broker, to form Indwe Border Insurance Brokers. The brain child of the late Vernon Kearney, Border Insurance Brokers rose from humble beginnings to its present status under the astute leadership of it’s three partners to that of one of the largest independent short term insurance brokerages in the Eastern Cape.

Having entertained many approaches in the past, the leadership felt it is important to carefully choose and not be forced into making a decision which did not take the interests of their clients and staff into consideration. A number of meetings, some formal and informal, were held between the leadership of both businesses. Here it became evident that there was a shared vision for the potential impact a combined operation would have.

Border has a record of excellent performance and easily met Indwe’s key determinants for a suitable partnership – namely the quality of the management and staff and the status of the business within its own markets. The merging of the two operations in East London will mean that the new Indwe/Border Broking House is likely to be the largest broker in East London and certainly one of the largest brokers in the Eastern Cape.

A spokesperson for Border Insurance Brokers stated, "In any merging of operations such as this, one does not want to lose sight of what made Border Insurance Brokers the successful business it has become, whilst not losing sight of how much more the business can become with the right partner. The fact that all management and staff are staying on board is indicative of the faith we have in our new arrangement."

This critical mass provides some additional impetus for the Indwe/Border operations in the Eastern Cape. Indwe intends utilising the skill and expertise of the combined operation and specifically the business development skills and personal service expertise of Border to enhance its position in the Eastern Cape.

The leadership of both Border and Indwe are looking to extract the best of both businesses in order to create a significant new force in the Eastern Cape insurance market and particularly so in East London. " The combination of local knowledge and expertise together with national, regional and international associations will greatly enhance our ability to service all spheres of individuals and businesses in the Eastern Cape. " concludes Peter Olyott , Managing Director of Indwe Risk Services.
