Discovery Insure and Uber strike innovative partnership

Discovery and Uber announced a first of its kind partnership in which Discovery Insure and DiscoveryCard get clients receive exceptional benefits when using Uber’s personal driver services.

Discovery Insure members will receive a 25% upfront discount on Uber trips that are are available in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban and Cape Town. In addition DiscoveryCard clients receive a cashback of up to 20% of the net spend paid back to them as a monthly cashback. This allows Discovery Insure clients who pay on their DiscoveryCard to receive a net discount of 40% on their Uber trips.

In addition should a Discovery Insure client with a valid claim be injured in a car accident and unable to drive, they are able to waive their car hire benefit in exchange for Uber personal driver services of up to R5 000 over a period of 60 days. This discount is up to a maximum trip spend of R1 000 per month.

Discovery Insure also announced a partnership with Gautrain. Clients who frequently use the Gautrain for their daily commutes instead of using their personal vehicles, will have their Gautrain spend added to their fuel spend in order to determine their monthly Vitalitydrive rewards - a driving programme that gives members great rewards for improving their driving. In this way they are rewarded, and not penalised, for not using their vehicles on the roads.
