Discovery Health Industry Round Table: Creating quality in healthcare

On 27 May 2015, influential stakeholders in the healthcare industry will gather at the Discovery Health Industry Round Table in Sandton, Johannesburg. The focus of this round table: Creating quality in healthcare for all South Africans.

Discovery Health CEO, Dr Jonathan Broomberg said, “This event is aimed at highlighting critical issues of value, cost and quality of care in our healthcare industry, and will create vital debate on the steps required of all stakeholders to ensure that consumers obtain the healthcare they deserve at affordable rates. This round table provides a platform for industry experts to identify solutions that will guide us in the direction of becoming collaborative contributors in a value-driven healthcare system.”

Joining this discussion will be: Dr Christopher Archer, Chief Executive Officer: South African Private Practice Forum; Mr Koert Pretorius, Chief Executive Officer: Mediclinic Southern Africa; Dr Morgan Chetty, Chairperson: Independent Physicians Association; Dr Ryan Noach, Deputy Chief Executive Officer: Discovery Health,Dr Carol Marshall,Director of the National Health Department's Office of Standards Compliance; and Mr Stavros Nicolaou, Senior Executive: Aspen Pharmacare. Panellists will examine how, through collaboration, each industry player can create quality in the South African healthcare system.

Commenting on the discussion and purpose of the Discovery Health Industry Round Table, Dr Broomberg said, “We are excited about bringing together several of the health sector’s most influential thought leaders, and continuing constructive conversations which Discovery Health believes will lead to sustainable initiatives to improve quality, access and cost of care in the South African healthcare ecosystem.”

The Discovery Health Industry Round Table will end with the announcement of the recipient of the Discovery Foundation MGH Fellowship Award. The Discovery Foundation MGH Fellowship Award is a grant valued at R2.1 million for the recipient to conduct medical research at MGH for a year.
