Investec Structured Products launches Optimal Investment Growth Basket Limited

07 October 2014 Japie Lubbe, Investec

Following on from the success of Britannic Opportunities which raised over R700 million earlier this year, Investec Structured Products announces the launch of Optimal Investment Growth Basket Limited (“the company”), providing a similar Pound (“GBP”) denominated equity investment through shares in the company which are listed offshore. This targeted four year investment is linked to the performance of the FTSE 100 Index in GBP and provides 100% downside protection at expiry with at least 120% uncapped participation in the positive growth of the Index.

Japie Lubbe of Investec Structured Products explains, “We have seen great success with our offshore products. The recovery of the UK economy makes GBP denominated investments attractive at the moment, and the use of capital protection in structured products allows these offshore investments to be lower risk, providing currency diversification to the Rand and other major currencies.”

Optimal Investment Growth Basket has a minimum investment of £18,000. The product is designed for the longer term investor where the full benefit is realised by holding the investment to its targeted four year maturity. Investors are able to sell their investment before the expiry of the four year term, but should note that the principal protection is only available if held for the full term.

“This unique equity-linked investment is an easy way to gain access to the UK market, through an Investec risk investment with high potential returns. This is essentially achieved by giving investors principal preservation in GBP as well as an opportunity to earn a geared return from positive movements in the equity index over the investment term, in Pounds,” adds Lubbe.

Shares in the Optimal Investment Growth Basket are available for subscription to qualifying investors until 18 November 2014 or when fully subscribed. South African investors can participate using offshore funds (expatriated via excon processes) or alternatively via cash transfer mechanism through a local stockbroker (asset swap).
