Investec has launched a smart phone application (App) that gives Investec private clients a secure, ‘real-time’ banking and trading platform while on the move. This follows the launch of the bank’s iPad App in April this year.
The new phone App gives clients a consolidated account dashboard that allows them to view all the relevant information for their Investec Private Banking and global Wealth & Investment accounts. Clients with Private Banking accounts that live in South Africa will be able to view their balances and transactions, as well as make payments to beneficiaries or once-off payments. Wealth & Investment clients will be able to view their global portfolios, browse market data and buy and sell JSE listed equities. Clients will also have the ability to contact their Private Banker or Investment Manager.
The App is available for free download in the Android Play store and all the Apple App stores except United Kingdom, Australia, Mauritius, Switzerland and Guernsey, simply by searching for 'Investec', and following the normal download steps.
Lyndon Subroyen, Chief Information Officer of Investec Wealth & Investment and the driver of the digital programme for Investec, said: "When we launched the iPad App in April, we said it was the first in a series of developments using digital innovation to make banking and investing easier for our private clients. The smart Phone App is a progression of that strategy; it takes the convenience of the tablet application one step further and is another example of Private Banking and Wealth & Investment working together to create a seamless client experience across local and global platforms.”
Investec was recognised by London’s Financial Times Group as the Best Private Bank and Wealth Manager in South Africa at the fifth Annual Global Private Banking and Private Wealth Management (PWM) Awards ceremony held in Geneva on 31 October 2013.
