Constantia Insurance Group (Constantia) is pleased to announce the appointment of Peter Todd as Chief Executive. Todd takes over from Volker von Widdern, who has stepped down from his role.

David Harpur, Chairman of Constantia says: “We would like to thank Volker for his success in growing our various insurance businesses and introducing many new, innovative products. We wish him the very best for his future endeavours.”

Todd, who has served as a non-executive director of Constantia over the past two years, brings a wealth of experience and industry credentials to the table.  He has held a number of executive positions within the industry both locally and abroad. He is a former CEO of Mutual & Federal and more recently served as Chairman of Standard Insurance Limited, before joining the Board of Constantia as a non-executive director in 2017. Todd has also served on various industry boards, including the South African Insurance Association, and is a former President of the Insurance Institute of South Africa.

The appointment of Todd comes at a time when Constantia realigns itself with its business strategy to drive business growth in new markets in Southern Africa.

Says Todd: “Having served on the Board of Constantia, I can assure all stakeholders that the change in leadership will be a smooth transition as we continue to focus on growing our presence in the market. With the recently announced transaction in the pipeline, we are at an exciting juncture and I am thrilled to lead Constantia into a new era with significant growth prospects.”
