Picturing your future with CIB - made easy at the IISA conference!

14 August 2013 Jon-jon Smit, CIB

Never a company to shy away from the fun side of life, CIB Insurance Administrators (Pty) Ltd (CIB) brought a bit of fun to their stand this year at southern Africa’s largest annual insurance conference - The International Insurance Conference Southern Af

The conference, which took place at Sun City from 28 to 31 July 2013, is regarded as being the most important event in the local insurance industry calendar, hosted by the IISA, FIA and SAIA. CIB’s stand focused around the idea of following your aspirations with the slogan ‘Picture your future with CIB’.

Jon-jon Smit, Sales Director of CIB, says, “We all need dreams to aspire towards – some of them realistic, some of them less so – but the reality is that our dreams and aspirations are an important motivating force in our lives. CIB recognises that everyone has their dream house, dream car, dream boat and dream holiday – and we are intent, as a company, on being an integral part of both the broker and client’s journey towards achieving these aspirations, through proper and targeted insurance.”

In this vein, CIB introduced a new experience at the IISA conference this year. Smit clarifies, “Delegates had the opportunity to picture what their future might hold with unique green screen photography. Because we all have goals that motivate us on a daily basis, we thought that we would indulge the delegates’ imaginations and, in the process, have some fun with CIB!”

And so, thanks to its trademark innovative use of technology, the CIB stand provided a photographer with a green screen and set up a number of images that, once the photo was taken, made it seem as though the delegates were in personalised aspirational scenes. Whether it was having their photo taken with Barack Obama – showcasing that once in a life time opportunity to meet the USA President – or showing off your billionaire’s yacht – the dream ‘boy’s toy’ – the photos were fun but the message was not entirely frivolous.

Smit adds, “With the strap line being ‘Picture your future with CIB’, those delegates who participated were able to take home a print of each of their pictures taken, from a choice of 10 backgrounds. They also had the chance to win a really fantastic Canon EOS 1100D camera bundle at the end of the conference.”

The stand was a real hit and was busy from the beginning of the conference to the end. Smit concludes, “It was a really fun initiative. CIB is passionate about bringing the future of insurance to the industry and so we were proud to enable delegates to picture their future with CIB, driving a serious message in a fun way.”
