Centriq Insurance welcomed First Property Acceptances (FPA) to their niche stable of underwriting management agencies (UMAs) in January this year.

First Property Acceptances, better known as FIRSTPROP, provides the South African property sector with some of the widest cover and value-added products available today. “Hence, we are very excited to partner with Ian Barton and his team. The plethora of skills and expertise they bring to the table make them a significant value-add, not only to our property insurance lines offering, but to our overall stable of UMAs,” says Martin Le Roux: Executive Head of Centriq.

FIRSTPROP’s motto "first for cover - first for service" is one they have maintained since the company’s inception in 2005. This, together with an unrivalled track record of providing the market with personalised solutions in property insurance, has and will always be something they take great pride in across all four of their branches in SA.

"Changes to the regulatory environment have placed intense pressure on UMAs to re-evaluate long-standing business practices. Therefore, we welcome the opportunity to re-establish our relationship with Centriq, as they provide first class support and expertise to the UMA market,” says Ian Barton, Managing Director of FPA.

Barton adds that the ability to offer their brokers and clients sustainable insurance solutions into the future will require that FPA meet these challenges head-on by adapting their UMA model and business structure to this new environment.

“Together with Martin Le Roux and his team, we have established a robust and unique UMA model which responds to the convergence of legislative influences, the need for more focused risk selection and specialisation, and direct risk sharing. As such, the directors of FIRSTPROP look forward to a long and financially rewarding relationship with Centriq," Barton concludes.
