Martin Senn, CEO of Zurich Insurance Group, during his visit to South Africa said: “Thank you, Afrika Tikkun, for opening your house to us. They say if you open your house you open your heart. Zurich aims to foster and maintain our relationship and continue to change lives. We applaud Afrika Tikkun for the work they do.”

Senn continued: “One of Zurich’s core values is to create and sustain value for our customers, shareholders, employees and the communities in which we live and work. A key component of this is our commitment to corporate responsibility. We have therefore established Global Community Week where, across the globe, we visit communities in which we do business and volunteer in different ways to give back.”

Marc Lubner, CEO of Afrika Tikkun said: “Afrika Tikkun is an ambitious organisation that takes care of children from the time they are born until they find jobs or a career. We have found that a number of organisations have implemented great feeding schemes but if a child is not getting an education and the requisite skills to gain employment and is growing up in an environment that is less than harmonious, they are more likely to fall into the dangers of drugs and crime. Afrika Tikkun woke up to the reality that somebody has to take responsibility and build a model to effectively develop children from an early age all the way to adulthood. Zurich has partnered with us to contribute to the expansion of this model and has impacted the lives of many. We are grateful to Zurich, a company that genuinely cares.”
