Chartis co-sponsors Bill Clinton benefit for the Nelson Mandela Foundation

Chartis, the global insurance company recently co-sponsored a benefit for the Nelson Mandela Foundation hosted by Bill Clinton. The former President of the United States hosted the benefit in his private office in New York City on 23 February 2012 to h

“We are very proud to be associated with an organisation dedicated to promoting the legacy of Nelson Mandela,” says Brett Field, communications & transformation manager at Chartis South Africa. The two organisations will continue to explore opportunities for further future cooperation both in South Africa and overseas.

President Clinton was joined by Minister Tokyo Sexwale and Nelson Mandela Foundation CEO Achmat Dangor in paying tribute to Nelson Mandela. Other important members of the U.S. and South African governments were also present, including South African Ambassador to the U.S. Ebrahim Rasool, Permanent Representative of South Africa to the United Nations Baso Sangqu, and U.S. Ambassador to South Africa Donald Gips. The benefit attracted donations to the Nelson Mandela Foundation from a variety of donors, and was a great success. Approximately 70 people attended the function in total.

Nic Walsh, Vice Chairman Chartis led a delegation from Chartis. Ed Lee, head Corporate Affairs, Kenneth Harkins Vice President and General Counsel Claims, and Paolo Grassi Executive Vice President and General Counsel Growth Economies also attended on behalf of Chartis.
