Allows NQF level 5 Certification

The Financial Planning Institute of Southern Africa (FPI) has announced the addition of FPI Board Assessments for REGISTERED FINANCIAL PLANNER members. Those planners who require a whole qualification at NQF Level 5 and have passed either the RFP 1 or RFP 2 Board Assessments (or both) through the FPI can now take the RFP 3 and RFP 4 Board Assessments to receive a whole qualification at NQF level 5. When successfully completed learners will receive the following qualification through the FPI: the National Certificate: Financial Services: Wealth Management Level 5 (SAQA Number 23973).

The whole qualification consists of 120 Credits in the following combination:

Core:40
Fundamental:39
Elective: 41
Total120

FPI Learning General Manager Carl Anschutz said; "Under the SAQA requirements once the credits have been acquired, learners have to write a final summative assessment, which will test the critical cross-field outcomes (CCFO) and integration of all skills and knowledge required by the qualification. This is the RFP 4 Board Assessment and will only be written for the first time in May 2007."

"Additionally, through the University of Stellenbosch Business School, learners have the opportunity to attend two-day tutoring classes at six venues across the country. The program could be delivered at other venues according to demand i.e. a minimum of 20 learners. The cost of the tutoring is R 2 508.00 (including VAT) and has to be paid before the lectures commence."

The RFP 3 Board Assessment is restricted to members of the FPI and the first examination can be written on 3 November 2006. It will be a 150-mark, 4-hour open book exam which will follow the format of the RFP 1 and RFP 2 papers, i.e. multiple choice and true/false questions, some of which will be based on case studies.
The cost of the RFP 3 Board Assessment is R 570.00 (including VAT) and the cutoff date for registrations is 8 October 2006.

"The FPI is the standards and accreditation body for the profession and registration authority for CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER professionals a globally recognized accreditation. Having recognized the need for a career path for local FINANCIAL PLANNERS, we have three other levels of accreditation from the entry level TRAINEE FINANCIAL PLANNER accreditation, REGISTERED FINANCIAL PLANNER, ASSOCIATE FINANCIAL PLANNER, to CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER professionals at the top of the profession. With the RFP 3 Board Assessments available from November this is another step in the development of standards at all levels of the industry and meeting our goal of providing the public with peace of mind that their FPI FINANCIAL PLANNER is qualified to handle their financial planning," said Anschutz.
