Intec School of Insurance success paves way for new growth
Educor, the largest provider of private education in Africa and holding company of Intec School of Insurance, has restructured its internal businesses so as to meet the changing training needs of corporates in South Africa.
The restructure is in response to the stringent guidelines set by government to upgrade national skills through education and training authorities and follows the successful FAIS training rollout through Intec School of Insurance in conjunction with INSETA in the financial services sector.
In the restructure, International Colleges Group (ICG), Educors division which focuses on distance learning, will part with its specialist division, ICG Learning Solutions. This will free this division to focus on the growing corporate market, which use both distance- and face-to-face learning methodologies. As of October 1 this year, ICG Learning Solutions has been reporting directly to Educor.
"To date ICG Learning Solutions has been offering flexible and customised learning solutions aimed at the specialised financial services sector in conjunction with Intec School of Insurance. This has delivered excellent results for corporates operating in this industry," says Nikki Wouterse, CEO of ICG Learning Solutions.
"With the growing demand for corporate training and our success in this market, Educor has recognised the potential for ICG Learning Solutions to replicate the successful business model in other sectors."
ICG Learning Solutions will receive a substantial capital injection from Educor to ensure they deliver world-class service to corporates, and grow to become the leading corporate training division in South Africa. MD of Educor, Hennie Louw, adds, "I believe ICG Learning Solutions will become recognised as one of the most innovative providers of corporate training in the country, taking its various colleges, such as Intec School of Insurance and others, from strength to strength.
Quality continuous training is an imperative for leading businesses in the 21st century and ICG Learning Solutions has proved that they are ideally positioned to provide this with anchor clients such as Metropolitan and Old Mutual where this division trained in excess of 2 000 financial services providers. This division is also now ready to tackle other business sectors.
Educor will now have five main divisions through which it offers the widest range of courses in Africa: ICG Learning Solutions, which will focus on corporate training; ICG, which focuses on distance learning for individuals, Damelin Education Group, which focuses on face-to-face learning for individuals, GIMT which focuses on executive training and Educor Africa, which focuses on expansion into the rest of Africa.
"Our infrastructure and national presence is a substantial advantage, thanks to our backing from Educor and Naspers. The benefits of 100 years of distance learning expertise, coupled with an innovative and flexible approach ensures that we can facilitate national roll-outs," points out Wouterse.
"ICG Learning Solutions is poised for growth and we look forward to replicating our successful business model in other sectors in the corporate market," she concludes.
