IISA restructures

05 August 2004 | | Angelo Coppola

(01.08.04) The Insurance Institute of South Africa (IISA) is to restructure its operations, into the Insurance Institute of South Africa and the College of Insurance.

The Institute will continue to be a professional membership body which promotes professionalism in the sector and sets the professional and education standards.

It will also continue to maintain international reciprocity and relations with other African countries and support the development of education in the insurance sector on the continent.

The College will continue to function as an education and training provider in terms of its accreditation with INSETA and will deliver short courses, skills programmes, learnerships and vocational qualifications to the sector.

The IISA will operate as a vocational education and training body.

Ben Rossouw, executive director of the IISA says they will no longer directly deliver the qualifications required to attain the three professional levels.

“We have entered into a partnership with UNISA’s Centre for Business Management to deliver these programmes on our behalf from January 2005.”
