Ecobank boosts its unrivalled footprint to include newly opened South African representative office
Today marks the official launch of Ecobank’s representative office in Sandton, making South Africa the 30th African country in which this Pan-African bank has a presence.
The South African office will enable Ecobank to serve a growing number of its clients who are currently doing business in the country, as well as South African corporations seeking to expand or consolidate business ties with the rest of Africa.
'As a key enabler in supporting the delivery of a one-bank solution to clients, the representative office now houses a fully integrated head office structure that will centrally manage Ecobank’s corporate banking activities across its entire African footprint. As such, this office effectively provides Nedbank’s South African corporate and multinational clients who bank with Ecobank around Africa with a centralised, single-point relationship contact,' says Smit Crouse, Executive Head, Ecobank Nedbank Alliance.
The value of this centralised coverage model cannot be overstated, particularly when considering that a growing number of Nedbank’s clients are establishing banking relationships with Ecobank branches in multiple geographies. Looking ahead to the future, the Ecobank representative office is well-positioned to perform an increasingly influential and enabling role in promoting the medium to long-term strategic objectives of the alliance,' concludes Crouse.
The Ecobank Nedbank Alliance provides clients with access to a combined Pan‑African banking network that covers more than 31countries, including South Africa, with over 1500 branches and banking outlets across the continent.
