What are you waiting for?

22 August 2019 Myra Knoesen

The Insurance Apprentice is set to take heed once again as entries for its 2020 edition are almost closing. We remind those who have not applied yet to hurry and get those applications in as entries close on 31 August. That leaves potential candidates with just over a week left.

Once entries close

Once applications close on 31 August, and the top candidates are identified, regional elimination rounds, sponsored by Constantia Insurance, will take place during October. If you have been chosen to go through to the second round, you will be notified mid-September. For those candidates that make it through to the second round, elimination dates are as follows:

  • Durban 1 October;
  • Cape Town 2 October; and
  • Johannesburg 3 October

“We have sponsored the elimination rounds because we firmly believe in the vision and purpose of The Insurance Apprentice – providing a platform for talented individuals to upskill and profile themselves, and hopefully, realise their career aspirations within the insurance industry. Our purpose is ‘insurance made personal’ and we believe there is a great synergy between our brand and an initiative such as The Insurance Apprentice, which creates a platform for individuals to showcase their abilities in pursuit of realising their own personal goals and aspirations,” said Alex Taljaard, General Manager of Group Marketing at Constantia Insurance.

After the elimination rounds in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban eight apprentices for series six of The Insurance Apprentice will be revealed at the end of October. Filming will take place early January 2020. The series will be aired early 2020 via the FAnews and The Insurance Apprentice websites, YouTube and Facebook.

Challenge yourself and apply

If you think you have what it takes to be the next Insurance Apprentice, then why not take a chance and apply. If you are younger than 35, have been in the short term insurance industry for more than four years and hold a short term insurance qualification (although not mandatory) – visit, fill out your application form and submit it.  You can read what previous contestants and winners had to say by clicking here: Life after TIA… just a few testimonies.

We also urge managers/companies to identify the people they believe can make it and push them to apply. Let’s get all those young talented professionals to apply.

If we have not convinced you yet we want to remind you that on top of getting your brand out there, learning more about the industry and going through an accelerated growth experience there are the awesome prizes to be won… R75 000 bursary for the winner, sponsored by Inseta, a trip to Lloyds of London, sponsored by Lloyds of London, a R20 000 cash prize, sponsored by the Graduate Institute of Financial Sciences (GIFS), a R10 000 cash prize, sponsored by Tracker, an Apple watch, sponsored by Genasys Technologies and so much more!

TIA2020 things to look forward to

The Insurance Apprentice 2020 will see the #superfan prize giveaway (sponsored by Constantia Insurance), Continuing Professional Development (CPD) attached to episodes, and so much more!

During each episode a specific question will be asked and the #superfan will be the person who answers these correctly. The #superfan will be invited to the event where the winner is announced and will receive a R20 000 cash prize. Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours will be attached to episodes once again. Focused on each task at the end of every episode, there will be questions asked with a CPD concept for readers/viewers.

We have also introduced someone who will be playing a very important role in #TIA2020... Letlhogonolo Tau, Manager of Business Development at Santam. Tau, our TIA2020 host, will indulge viewers in some interesting tid-bits and behind the scenes scoop… this one is not to be missed!
