Unique challenges impacting the HCV business

13 August 2021 Myra Knoesen

Things are getting serious… perhaps something of a double-edged sword?

Down to the last six contestants… the winning spot for the title of The Insurance Apprentice 2021 is getting closer.

The ecosystem

There is an ecosystem that surrounds HCV business and its resultant performance from an efficiency and operational point of view, as well as insurance performance.

In episode seven, sponsored by Discovery Insure, head judge Simon Colman, Business Head of digital and Financial Lines at SHA Risk Specialists and guest judges Clyde Troup, Head of Underwriting: Business Insurance at Discovery Insure and Nox Dlamini, Managing Director at XonRisk emphasise that there are many unique challenges impacting on this ecosystem, namely:

  • Cost pressures;
  • Risk management of fleet and infrastructure challenges;
  • The driver; and

Providing a valuable proposition

The apprentices were tasked with presenting a new HCV value proposition that addresses risk mitigation, differentiators in cover, client incentives and loss ratio mitigation, which will have a direct impact on the performance of a fleet’s operational efficiency and loss ratio performance.

Did they provide a valuable proposition? Did anyone come up with a really unique concept?
