Turning Up The Heat
|
In the past four weeks, we’ve seen tensions rise, ruthless eliminations and joyous celebrations.
The journey that this competition presents is most certainly not an easy one, and while the remaining contestants have managed to stay in the running for the title, this is no time for them to relax.
The Marsh task has a reputation for being ruthless and this year is no different! Today the contestants have two choices: to go big… or go home, all while impressing the judges - head judge, Simon Colman, resident judge Nox Dlamini, Managing Director at XonRisk and sponsor judge Shivan Hutton, Managing Director, Head of Marsh Specialty, Africa.
Climate change risk A thorough understanding of the global risk environment and dominant themes is necessary for firms operating in today’s competitive marketplace. One of the themes is climate change.
Episode five, sponsored by Marsh, sees the contestants tasked with supporting their client, a Pan-African corporate client headquartered in South Africa, who is looking to construct two new facilities in South Africa and in Botswana.
The client is concerned about climate change risk to the facility and wants to understand their exposure in each case, specifically in relation to flood risk in different climate change scenarios.
Did they meet the mandate and provide a comparison of the hazard and the exposure in South Africa and Botswana? Did they provide comprehensive strategies for risk mitigation and resilience? More importantly, did they make solid recommendations to their client on flood risk transfer and insurance considerations in the event of varying climate change scenarios?
