The Insurance Apprentice series debuts
It is with much anticipation and great excitement that we, as FAnews, debut the very first episode of The Insurance Apprentice titled, ‘Meet the apprentices’.
For those of you who do not know about the series, FAnews launched The Insurance Apprentice at The Insurance Conference 2014 (Sun City). Rianet Whitehead, FAnews Editor, came across the idea and started conversations with industry players about the possibility of doing a video series with young industry representatives completing insurance related tasks. Some of the key people who assisted in giving the idea a kick-start, were Peter Todd (President of the IISA), David Harpur and Pat Hill (both from the IISA). All of them played a huge role in the success of this initiative and we are really thankful for the role they have played. Peter Todd was fairly instrumental in the design of the programme and also shared his excitement about the 'long overdue' initiative by saying, “we cannot wait to show people the fun and serious side of the industry by highlighting that you can have a real career but it can also be fun.”
The concept of The Insurance Apprentice is all about human capital development, portraying the industry as an exciting one and giving young people a chance to learn and develop.
Having wrapped up the filming process on the 16th of January over a five day period, readers can look forward to a seven part series in which six young industry representatives compete for the title of The Insurance Apprentice 2015.
The series follows the day-to-day workings of the six apprentices in action as they complete an array of interesting insurance related tasks. These tasks cover different parts of the industry and challenge the six people to do things they have never done before.
As tasks unfold, opinions clash and judges get intense and critical about the processes followed by the groups. Viewers will get a chance to see these apprentices in fishbowls as challenges are thrown their way on a daily basis.
Meet the apprentices
In the first episode of The Insurance Apprentice, sponsored by Alexander Forbes, you will get a chance to meet Aaron Mrabalala, Azhar Said, Matthew George, Mopedi Melato, Roxanne Moodley and Walter Ngobene for the very first time as they offer a short insight into their strategies and game plan for the competition and why they believe they should be crowned the winner of The Insurance Apprentice 2015.
In this episode you will also be introduced to judge Theo Pauw, Executive Chairman of Price Forbes. Pauw, who will be judging the apprentices throughout the competition, gives us a brief background on his experience and his thoughts on The Insurance Apprentice, the challenges ahead and the six participants.
