01 July 2015 Myra Rego

With The Insurance Apprentice 2015 having received such positive feedback and inspiring many, it is exciting to announce that FAnews has officially launched season two of The Insurance Apprentice, titled The Insurance Apprentice 2016.

The series, consisting of seven online videos, will be aired early 2016 via the FAnews and The Insurance Apprentice websites, and the winner will become the second South African Insurance Apprentice, who will walk away with an experience of a lifetime with a trip to Lloyds of London, sponsored by Lloyds of London!

For those of you who do not know, The Insurance Apprentice is all about human capital development, portraying the industry as an exciting one and giving young people a chance to learn and develop. At the same time, these young candidates get excited about the industry they are part of.

The Insurance Apprentice 2015 kicked off to a great start as readers and viewers caught a glimpse of this industry first. Six young industry representatives, selected from just over 120 applicants, competed against each other through a variety of tasks in order to be crowned the winner and Roxanne Moodley walked away as the winner of The Insurance Apprentice 2015.

What’s in it for you?

If you are chosen as one of the eight apprentices you will learn about different industries, gain an invaluable experience and enhance your career. Other than then fact that you will become a bit famous within the insurance industry, depending on you as the individual and how far you are willing to reach, the opportunities are endless for you.

“We encourage young people who work in the short-term industry, be it at a brokerage, insurer, underwriting manager, loss adjuster or administrator to enter this exciting programme and stand a chance to win an experience of a lifetime,” says Rianet Whitehead, Editor of FAnews.

Embarking on the journey of The Insurance Apprentice, Moodley said she had no idea that it would change her life as she knew it. “The way I think about insurance, business and people has completely changed,” said Moodley.

“The Insurance Apprentice gives you an opportunity to showcase your talent to the industry which makes you more attractive to your own organisation and to others in the short-term insurance industry,” she continued.

Moodley said while the prizes are great, the experience and the learning is even more memorable, and you get the opportunity to sample very different areas of the industry. “The Insurance Apprentice has opened doors to greater exposure within the industry as a whole.”

She concluded by saying, “I have received so many compliments from both my brokers as well as clients on what a fantastic production The Insurance Apprentice was. Young people really need to see the potential – and I would definitely recommend having a shot at the competition.”
