TIA2023

#TIA2023 winner announcement

The announcement of the winner of The Insurance Apprentice 2023 took place last night, 11 May, at Hollard when Christopher Appanah, Head: Claims-Liabilities at Bryte Insurance Company was announced as the winner of The Insurance Apprentice 2023.

A starry night
The MC for the evening was Nico Panagio (the host of Survivor SA) - welcoming apprentices, sponsors and guests (Santam made sure we had the best MC for the night).

In true Survivor style, he kept the audience entertained with some highlight videos from contestants and, of course, talking to the contestants about their experiences, delving into some of the things that happened during filming week.

Fulcrum sponsored the highlight videos of the contestants and Bryte sponsored the season highlights videos.

Awards and trophies
Mpho Machola, one of the Top 30 contestants, also joined Nico on stage… Nico just could not resist talking to "The World's Greatest Salesman", who basically crashed and burned before the Top 10 were chosen. Mpho just impressed everyone so much that he had to get his own special award. Watch episode one to see what that was all about…

Deidre Henneberry was awarded with a R15 000 Milpark study voucher. Speaking of wins, throughout the competition there was a voting competition running, with a total of 64 000 votes cast. The winner of the audience favourite voting competition gets R4 000 and the contestant with the most votes gets R4 000. Panagio announced that the winner of the competition (in terms of the person who voted) is Kgomotso Manalane from Santam. And the contestant with the most votes is Deidre Henneberry. Congratulations Kgomotso and Deidre.

Before announcing the winner, Panagio talked a bit about the judges and called Head Judge, Simon Colman, and Resident Judge, Nox Dlamini, up to have a quick chat with them about the judging process and some of their experiences during filming week.

It was quite momentous when Christelle Odendaal, TIA2022 winner, joined Nico on stage (ready) to hand over the trophy to the winner.

The top 3 and winner
Building tension, Panagio reminded the audience of the prizes for the Top 3 and winner. With tense music, Kyle Klopper came in third place, followed by Mutsa Makoni in second place, with Appanah announced as the winner.

In his acceptance speech, as the 2023 Insurance Apprentice winner, Appanah thanked the sponsors, the FAnews/Insurance Apprentice team and his friends, family and colleagues.

TIA Judges Bloopers

While at times they may come across harsh, behind the scenes, it’s a different story. Here’s the ‘lighter’ side of Simon aka Judge Dread and Nox aka Cruela.
