Disdained client makes apprentices uncertain

04 March 2016 Myra Knoesen

With tension all up in the air in episode two (part 1 and part 2) of The Insurance Apprentice, the apprentices seemed to be feeling uncertain and worried about their stance on the challenges going forward and the possibility of being the second apprentice to be eliminated.

Is a client always right

In the third episode of The Insurance Apprentice 2016, you will get to see what the apprentices thought of Richard’s elimination. Readers will get a glimpse of the apprentices, once again, being ‘masters of their arts’ as they attempted to ‘sell’ insurance to an emotional, yet disdained client.

The task for the day, sponsored by Marsh Africa, saw the apprentices use their insurance selling skills to persuade a client to give them a mandate.

Judge Theo was joined by fellow panel members Vuyo Lee and Riette Fern, Divisional Executive, Marsh Africa.

Fern, accompanied by colleague Adriaan Lemmer, Senior Consultant at Marsh Africa, paced the room and interacted with the apprentices, while discussions took place and questions were asked.

Hours later, the apprentices nervously waited to head to the boardroom to begin their meeting with the ‘client’, as the judges cautiously sat in and listened in their role as the client.

Team one, known as CAU Brokers, consisted of Alicia Narainsamy, Chris Caalsen and Unathi Ntengo. And team two, known as YIB (Your Insurance Brokers), consisted of Andre Brooks, Celina Bhima, Karabo Kopeka and Priya Govender.

As the apprentices persistently tried to persuade the client they were interrupted, questioned and caught off guard. Did the apprentices get flustered, did they feel intimidated or were they taking it in their stride?

Did they win the judges over? Which team won? Who were the weakest links and which apprentice fell victim to elimination?
