Vehicle tracking: MiX Telematics goes Mobile

18 December 2009 Matrix

Vehicle tracking has just been introduced to the small screen in the form of MiX Mobile. The new platform is optimised for people on the go and is already live on the iPhone via the Apple App Store.

“This exciting innovation provides customers with more control than ever before when it comes to vehicle tracking,” said Hannelie Snow, Communications Officer for Matrix Vehicle Tracking. “It brings tracking right to their fingertips, irrespective of where they are. Now customers can keep tabs on their vehicles while on the move.”

MiX Mobile is the latest innovation in the MiX Telematics suite of products and offers a range of key features suited to the iPhone technology. The superior iPhone screen has been used optimally, ensuring all vehicles are available in the status view to determine at a glance whether they are moving, at what speed and their exact location.

Customers can also pinch and stretch in true iPhone fashion to zoom in and out on maps that include street, satellite and hybrid views. All vehicles and routes can be viewed on one map or individually and they can be followed in real-time. Another great feature uses the iPhone’s build-in GPS to determine the phone’s position relative to a vehicle!

SMS or text tracking is another way to track a vehicle directly using MiX Mobile. Users receive regular updates via text messaging as to where the vehicle is at any specific point in time. Historical information can also be accessed in trip reports that display the total kilometres a vehicle has driven as well as specific information about each trip.

MiX Mobile is currently available for the X-Drive and FM Protector products in South Africa and the United Kingdom respectively.

“This new addition now makes it easier than ever before for customers to self-manage their X-Drive,” Snow adds.
