FISA conference to focus on latest fiduciary developments

The Fiduciary Institute of Southern Africa (FISA) will hold its fifth annual conference on 10 September 2015 at the Sandton Convention Centre.

The conference has become known among both practitioners and academics as an event with high quality speakers and thought-provoking discussion. This year, under the theme “Knowledge and Integrity: Pillars of Success”, the focus is on recent developments affecting fiduciary practice, including proposed legislation and court decisions.

The powerful line-up of speakers includes:

• Judge Dennis Davis on the Interim Report on Estate Duty and Trusts
• Adv Lester Basson, Chief Master of the High Court, on a regulatory update
• Professor Francois du Toit from UWC on the latest court developments regarding alter ego trusts
• Professor Willie van der Westhuizen on avoiding the alter ego situation in trusts
• Professor Mohamed Paleker on the interpretation of wills
• Dr Janette Minnaar-van Veijeren on ethical behaviour.
