Discovery Health opens two vaccination sites in KZN

Discovery Health has further expanded its national footprint with the opening of two additional vaccination sites in Kwa-Zulu Natal (KZN), to support the Government-led mass vaccination programme. The two new vaccination sites at Virgin Active in The Pavilion Shopping Centre in Durban and at Park Square in Umhlanga, are modelled on Discovery’s other successful vaccination sites ensuring maximum throughput and ideal customer experience, and are conveniently accessible to surrounding communities.

“We are delighted to have been able to open these two additional vaccination sites in KZN this week. So far, we have administered over 225,000 vaccines through our vaccination sites and are looking forward to accelerating the programme in KZN over the coming weeks. We are working closely with both the National and Provincial Departments of Health and remain excited and motivated to be contributing to the country reaching population-level immunity,” said Dr Ryan Noach, CEO of Discovery Health.

The Park Square vaccination site is one of the largest vaccination sites in KZN with a capacity to vaccinate over 2,200 people per day.

Noach added, “Given the acceleration in delivery of vaccines to South Africa, we must ensure a concomitant step change increase in the number of vaccinations administered, maximising the opportunity to get as many people vaccinated as quickly as possible. This is the best possible pathway to ensure protection for ourselves, our friends and family and our communities.
